About Mel ...
Before taking on the role of dance mom, Mel enjoyed the world of dance firsthand. From age 3, continuing through college, Mel’s dance journey included recital performances, placing in local, regional and national competitions, Mary Washington College Dance Company performances, as well as dancing in The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1993. Mel’s love of dance and the strength required from a dancer brought her into the fitness world. For over 10 years, Mel has been teaching individuals about their bodies: how to train them safely, the importance of strong bodies and how to make fitness fun. In addition to owning a successful fitness business (Flaunt!), Mel has taught pole and chair fitness, Zumba, Sh’Bam, Piyo, and yoga, currently concentrating on Barre, Pilates, cycle and freestyle fitness classes for children. When she’s not teaching fitness, Mel enjoys homeschooling her two daughters, reading, running and spending time with her sweet hubby and her girls.
