About Josi ...

Josi started gymnastics classes when she was three-years-old.  At age 6, she began competitive gymnastics at Capital Gymnastics National Training Center in Burke, VA, under head coach, USA National Team Coach and Olympic Selection Team Member, Tatiana Perskaia.  By age 12, Josi qualified for Junior Olympic Level 9 Eastern Nationals and competed in Kissimmee, FL, where she was 5th on bars, 8th on beam, and 13th all-around. She then started her Level 10 career. By age 14, she was the Virginia State Level 10 All-Around Champion and also took the title for bars, beam, and floor. After a back injury, Josi took a year off and coached recreational gymnastics at Paragon Gym for Kids in Fredericksburg, VA. At age 16, Josi qualified for Junior Olympic Level 10 Nationals. She continued her career with Capital Gymnastics as a Level 10 until her senior year of high-school.

Josi moved on to attend college at Virginia Tech where she studied English and Creative Writing and was a part of the club gymnastics team her freshman year. While in school, she coached gymnastics for Virginia Techniques in Christiansburg, VA. She graduated magna cum laude from Virginia Tech and moved to San Diego, CA in the fall of 2012. She coached recreational and advanced gymnastics at San Diego Gymnastics before she decided to start her teaching career.

Josi started teaching English, Creative Writing, and Drama in Harlan, KY through the Teach for America program. After two years, she moved back to her hometown of Fredericksburg, VA. She is currently an English and Creative Writing teacher at Mountain View High School where she serves as the literary magazine sponsor and the head coach of the high school gymnastics team. In her free time, Josi loves traveling, hiking in national parks, running long distances and doing yoga. Her first loves, however, will always be flips and handstands!
